Adeptus Astartes.....

 

I have alway had a Space Marine army since I started playing 40k in 1997. 

Looking back over the years here is a list of all loyalist chapters I played over the last 24 years:

• Space Wolves (2e-3e)
• Dark Angels (3e)
• Black Templars (3e)
• Crimson Fists (3e-7e)
• Raptors Chapter (6e- current)

I have also built models for:

• Imperial Fists
• Exorcists
• Mortifactors
• Blood Angels
• Deathwatch
• Ultramarines
• Iron Hands
• Black Dragons

I love my Raptors Chapter models and my Back to Badab Raptors Kill Team, but lately I have been so disappointed with Space Marines, to the point I have no desire to build, paint, or play them. 

With GW's big push towards Primaris armies it felt like we would lose out not going to Primaris. Which we actually did. First born have not received any new kits. Not that is a major issue but it shows that "hey maybe eventually they will be discontinued.", similar to the Squats. Walk into a gaming store and try to buy Space Marine kits that are not Priamris related. It's getting harder to. Then the new Combat Patrol Deathwatch got released...all Priamris, No Veterans.... Now I have no issues with Primaris and I love the Phobos pattern armor. But I just dont feel like investing the money into units that dont fit my scouting force. I do love the new Land Speeder tho. 

Alot of my disappointment lies on the Scouts moving to Elites choices. I had built my army as a  the 10th Company, Scout force, with certain elements to support them. I even added the Phobos pattern armor from Shadowspear.  9th Edition Codex drops.....bam army not viable. 5 5 man scout squads and max of 3 squads...and GW telling me to buy more primaris to get my troops back up. This seriously bugs me. All my scouts were had little details added and I tried to make them as unique as possible. 

Another of the outlaying factors is the lack of possibility and options in the marines kits  It's the issue of its all or nothing in the squad, like in 30k which I get and it fits 30k, but not 40k  where I need the specialist options and not 5 dudes with bolters. But really good bolters. I built 15 PAGK this weekend- Crowe, 5 man Interceptor, 4 man interceptor, and 5 man Purgation  with the exception of Crowe, 2 sprues to build 5 dudes and have a multitude of options and to get certain builds like my Purgation Squad with 4 incinerators I had to save two Incinerators from other sprues. That Customization  I loved about 40k and Marines. These 14 dudes all look different and are the same models. Try that with a box of Primaris.

I had hoped Kill Team would kept the desire but when I saw that it was by squad type, it destroyed me. My Back to Badab Raptors Kill Team is illegal. Now I am not saying this an excuse to build a Chaos army (but if I did it would be Abaddon and a bunch of Black Legion terminators), I just think it's time to stop playing Adeptus Astartes in 40k for a while.. If the rumors are true I will build a 30K Imperial Fist army but I have my Grey Knights and Adepta Soriiritas for 40K and those have been my Favorite armies for a while.

Maybe one day I'll come around and finish my marines I have or build them for Kill Team when they get their rules......but for now

Manic Monday #43

 Woot Woot...Finally got time to get some modeling done!

 So the week started out bad but it turned postive. Monday my Mailbox lock broke and my GF and I could not notify the USPS until Wednesday, which sucked since I had packages in the box. Wednesday the AC went out while I was working an 16 hour shift. So I had to contact my home warranty company and get that checked out. Luckily the company had a cancellation and was able to fix it Thursday. 

So Hobby updates:

Wednesday- Ordered Warhammer Plus and my Free model.

Thursday- I began moving my models back into the display Cabinets, starting with my Grey Knights. 

Friday- Moved my Raptors Space Marines, Adepta Sororitas, and the unbuilt vehicles for the Grey Knights over.  

In the evening I began building Castellan Crowe into sub assemblies to make painting him easier. I then built my 4 Assassins I have had sitting around for almost 2 years. I also picked up more Dr Drop Tops, GW Air paints, and White Dwarf  #467 while I was runnng errands. 

Saturday- With my overnight shift looming, I decided to relax and started building PAGKs. I was trying to decide between Interceptors and Purifiers and settled on Interceptors. So I built the Justicar weilding a Daemon Hammer, and with Entropmancer's suggestion, I built the 4 remaining guys as 2 swords and 2 halbreds. 

I found an extra blank shoulder pad and grabbed my Free Warhammer Store mini and removed one of the Grey Knight Shoulder pads and Now my Interceptor Squad has a 6th member with dual Falchions.

Once I was done I began removing  parts off the sprue and found 7 PAGK legs and I may have the torsos to make another unit....And this is before the 25 PAGK I have unbuilt in the boxes. 

While trying to take a nap, I received an amazon notification that Neewer 20in x 20in Light box I was watching was on sale for $25 off the $110 price. I was looking at for my GF's buisness and something I can use on occasssions I showed her and she liked it. 

I then ordered the Kill Team Ocatrius releases shown here and then I saw a Dreadknight on sale for $47 so I ordered a 5th Dreadknight. 

     

Sunday-  I got home from work and started looking at the 7 legs. I knew 1 set without Tabard was going to my 10 man Purifier Squad, Leaving me 6 legs. I grabbed the set of 4 legs, 4 torsos, backpacks, and weapon loadouts. I figured i get some sleep and then work on these when I get up. After my 3 hr nap I started working on Interceptor Squad 2- Daemon Hammer justicar, Dual Falchions for the squad to go with my free Warhammer Store Mini of the Month. 

I then began removing 5 Models off the sprue, along with 2 extra Incinerators, before heading off to lunch with the Family.

After getting home from lunch I started back to work on the 4 incinerator Purgation squad.

And after they were completed I like I finally accomplished something in my hobbying area after the last few months. 

Only 20 more PAGK's to build but 5 will be for Kill Team 2021. 

Warhammer TV is here

 

Warhammer TV is here and I finally have got to play around and watch the different shows and features. 

So for $59.99 a year, I got Warhammer Tv, Warhammer Vault, 40k app, and Azyr App. Plus I get a free mini.

So far I have enjoyed the Hammer and Bolter Cartoons and Angel of Deaths is intresting. 

I think the price is worth it as unpopular as that opinion is in the current situation.

One of the big surprises was that Warhammer TV was available on on Apple as an app. After finding it I was curious and highly doubtful that there was an Amazon Fire app....

Sure enough it was on the Fire App. 

Kill Team Saturday #1- Kill Team Octarius is out

 

So the new edition of Kill Team is out and I did not preorder anything. The Death Korps of Krieg and Orks look great but not my thing. 

I wanted to preorder the Rule book, cards, Accessories and Compendium but then the prices were revealed.... Ugh

I became real salty once I saw the rules and how Kill Teams were built. This version is back to squads not like my Back to Badab Raptors Kill Team in the previous edition of Kill Team. Even tho I was salty I still wanted to play the new edition as it still better then the Arena Expansion.I was able to see the reviews of the Compendium and my days of  playing 40k Adeptus Astartes are just about done completely, more on this in alter post, but Ecclesiarchy, Drukhari, and of course Grey Knights peaked my interest. So I started trolling ebay for the new Kill Team stuff. 

I found something and jumped on it immediately.

For $54.99 I got the Core Rule Book, Essentials, Box Tac Ops cards, and the Octarius Book. saving $30. And then ordered the tac ops cards and Compendium.

So with this stuff coming in I think I'll be doing Grey Knights again but these one will be a different from my normal Grey Knight army as I am thinking about using Deathwatch legs to make them taller.

Manic Monday # 42

 

Well after almost 5 months the Water damage repair is just about done. ...one spot needs to be fixed. It has been a month since I had to dismatle my hobby area for the floors to be repaired. So the hobby area has been updated as it went back together. 

Ok so let's start off the week of "Hobbying"  for this Manic Monday.

Thursday (Normally a day off) - had to go to work and escort contractors around the building usually 830 am to 2pm. Yeah we were done by 1130 am. So I went to post office to pick up my Warhammer Merchandise artwork, got home changed and left to pick up my Grey Knights Preorder from the Warhammer store. I was able to exchange my 2nd Grey Knight Codex for a 9th edition Space Marine codex. I also purchased some nurgle paints and Retributor armor spray.

Friday (Normally a day off) - Got up at 6am did laundry and my normal Friday morning routine. Hit the gym, met Entropmancer at a gaming store to get my Reaver and some decals he ordered for me. I purchased another Dreadknight while there...not sure why but I think I have 3 not the 4 planned.  Picked up lunch and got ready for my overnight shift (545pm to 545 am). I did cave and order a Hexfire Castellan Crowe off of ebay for $40.

Satuday (Normally a day off- see a pattern)- got off at 545 am, home by 620 am after morning chores, spraying weeds, feeding cats, took a shower, laid down and took a 30 minute nap from 730am to 800am. Went to breakfast with GF, Post office to pick up my Warhammer Art package, Went to Lowe's home improvment for new bathroom towel racks and toliet paper dispenser, Farmer's market to pick up CBD (THC Free) Balms, lotion and oil, then across town to Ikea. After Ikea, had lunch, got groceries, and got home around 330 pm. I installed the new bathroom stuff.

I then started to tackle putting my hobby area back together @ 530 pm.

This is where I left off Saturday evening around 8 pm....I was beat and ready for bed. And realized I have been up for 38 hours  with a 30 minute nap. 

Sunday (Normal day off- yup) So my schedule is supposed to be Monday - Wednesday 545 am -545pm with a 4 hr filler randomly inserted. One of my co-workers was off so I partial covered his shift from 545am to 145 pm. So before my Scheduled Work Week (our schedule runs Fri- Thurs) even started I was at 20 hours worked. While at work I purchased some bits for The Techmarine rhino, and the GMNDK (I need to get back to working on models!). Got off work, went home changed and went to lunch with the family and then ran to Michaels to get picture frames. 

Once home I built the new ikea bookshelf and got to work in the hobby area.

Manic Monday #41

So this is my 175th post and well not what I wanted to talk about.......

I fully expected to discuss the Grey Knight Codex today. But for some stupid reason, Preordering in a Warhammer Store on Preorder day, and having the Preorder Sent to the Store I am ordering from, means according to GW to send it out late, and as if the address is a home address even tho it says stores address.

Manic Monday #40

 

So I normally say what a weekend but I worked all weekend and will be working all week on overnights.... 84 hours this week alone. Ugh

So absolutely no modeling done this week.  In other hobby news:

Last sunday 08/01 I did pick up a companion for my Chibi Grey Knight....and for good price too 

I'll eventually repaint her into my order colors, I want to repaint the Grey Knight too. 

I met with my friend Entropmancer and dropped off an Adpetus Titanius starter to him on Friday. He will be building for #ATClashoftheTitans Community build from Battlebling. 

Saturday was Grey Knight preorder day! I did something stupid and ordered 2 codexes, 2 dice sets and 1 set of cards. Hopefully I can exchange the 2nd codex for the Drukhari codex or Space Marine codex. I did get a dual Falchion Interceptor. Im gonna paint and seel him and hang him in my Jeep. More importantly I did get my Coin. 

Saturday I was still debating buying a  5th land Raider (ideally it would be a 2nd banisher) but 4 may be plenty.....probably not.

I needed purchase a few things. I picked up some Humbrol Stippling brushes for my Legio Audax #ATClashoftheTitans vow off of ebay.

 While I was there I purchased another 4 Warhounds bringing my total for Audax to 8 Warhounds. Only 4 more to buy. I decided the Warbringer and Acasteus Knights will be assigned to my Legio Audax as support also. 

And since My Chibi Grey Knight and Sister of Battle needed support I picked up a 3rd Chibi which will be repainted into Raptors or Exorcists

So I was looking for a cheap Crowe from Hexfire and was not finding one I was willing to purchase. I can wait until he is released separately. But I did preorder the Hexfire Campaign Book as I found it cheap enough.

That's when it went sideways.....Looking on  Warhammer Merchandise , and went a little crazy.

The print I really want is not available at Warhammer Merchandise but it is at Warhammer Art.

I so I purchased it too.

While still shopping at Warhammer Merchandise and with the new strainds of Covid and cases on the rise, decided to buy new masks. 

Kill Team: Octarius is up for preorder Saturday. I won't be preordering starter and we are dscussing playing it potentially but I am still up in the air. If I do play it will either Be Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, Exorcists or Raptors.
