So my work schedule has me doing 40 hrs really quickly with 3 12 hr shifts Monday to Wednesday and a 4 hr filler shift early Thursday morning (1:45 am to 5:45am). So I normally go home nap Thursday morning then go out and buy groceries for the week and go visit my parents. Well this past week I did not have to come in Thursday morning and got to my parents earlier. While there I airbrushed my first wash for the Predator, Scout Bikes, and Land Speeders and I started looking at my unbuilt pile of shame I had stored there. I jokingly told a friend I probably have enought to make a 3 army of stuff after assigning the models to Raptors and Black Templars. I am pretty sure I could build an Imperial Fists army pretty easy with the amount of models unbuilt I have....Like why do I have 20 Hell Blasters or 12 Inceptors. But that has to wait unitl I finish the current project: Grey Knights and Raptors.
With 9e approaching quickly I have shifted from working on my Grey Knights to more of my Raptors. I really dont want to have to build that many terminators. I probably have almost 30 terminators for my Grey Knight unbuilt. Plus I thought painting individual heradly was bad....nope just tedious. I knew what the worst part of the hobby was but man did it suck. More on this later. Plus until we see the adjusted Power Levels and Points the Grey Knights are severly lacking compared to every other army. My 25 Power Level relates to 365 pts, Brotherhood Champion, 2 5 man strike squads and an apothecary terminator. But if you compare it to my Raptors at 25 Power Level/ 506 points and 527 points respectively with the main core being phobos captain, infiltrator squad, and scout squad and either scout bike squad and Predator for the 527 pt list or having 3 suppressors , 3 eliminators, and Imperial Space Marine for 506 pts. Yeah Power Level and Grey Knights are way off.
So with me having the extra time off, and my normal duties done I started back up working on my "Back to Badab" Kill Team. when I last left them I was not far off from completion. Just a few more highlights, bases and they were done. Missing Slings for the Sniper Rifle and Comms Sgt's bolter.
So then I started the project I've been dreading........DECALS.
After a few hours I was able to complete the Decaling task.....for now.
Light Industries Decals were used for some of the Raptor logos and Tactical markings. Chapter Customizer (Follow the Chapter Customizer link at the bottom of Fallout Hobbies' page) for Smaller Raptor Logos and Comamnd Staff Decals. Ginfritter Gnomish Workshop for Company and Squad number markings. And Finally some GW decals were used for command and squad desgination markings. Micro sol and Micro set were a life saver. Decaling SUCKS.
After completing this task, I finished the hobby weekend by building the last 2 Suppressors completing the Vangaurd Section of Shadowspear and then built 5 incursors from a box I am Splitting with a friend.
And I ordered more decals but this time from the Mighty Brush. And since Objective counters are on 40mm bases and I have no clue where my land Speeder bases are, I ordered more bases and stands for them.

Mid Week update
![]() |
Set you on fire
So no painting or modeling has been done thanks to my work schedule but that was expected.
Forgeworld has opened! Much rejoicing! Except for the wallet.
Currently my Grey Knights have 2 unbuilt Land Raider/ Phobos/ Crusader/ Redeemer that are waiting to get built. I have been planning on a 3rd and possibly 4th Land Raiders for the army. The 4th would be a Land Raider Prometheus with its quad heavy bolter sponsons for my Inquistor. But that has to wait until 9e drops. But the 3rd Land Raider I purchased today.

FW Land Raider Mk IIb
The FW Land Raider Mk IIb uses Rhino size doors and will be assigned to my Purifiers all 10 them with quad incinerators. I It all uses the Standard Land raider rules.

No pity, No Remorse
Since I was at Forgeworld anyways I picked up the first New purchase for my 9e Black Templars. Forgewold Black Templar Storm Shields for the Indomitus Crusade Marshall, Castellan, and Sword Brethren.
And why stop there..
Next I went over to Emperor's Fist Bits - Etsy Store and ordered some bits.

Manic Monday #1
Modeling Updates
So this weekend I completed Brother Techmarine Talus attached to the 7th Brotherhood of Grey Knights and started working on Strike Squad # 3. Once they are completed, I'll 7 Power Level short of my Crusade for 9e which will be the Purgation Squad with 4 Psilencers.

Over on the Bolter and Chainsword, in Ravenguard group we are working on a Apothecary build and paint and I have been slacking. The Group build and paint ends on the 06/28 which means i have 13 days to paint my 2 apothecaries.
Waiting on assignment for the 10th Co
Black Templars- with 9e around the corner, I will be building all my Primaris models not in Phobos armor into the Black Templars. Some modeling chain, some green stuff tabards and the army will look good. I plan on using Decals from Ginfritter Gnomish Workshop for them instead of the shapeway icons just a cost reduction and uniformity. The Primaris army I have is quite large so this project will take a while plus waiting on new models. Thursday, September 20, 2018
Exorcists project
So Exorcists were being worked on....ie Removing magnets from the "psilencer" heavy gunner. I have decided not to magnetize everything but continue up scaling and conversions I have planned.
The project is restarting as a Kill Team Campaign roster listed as such:
Leader- Justicar- Dual Falchions
Specialist- Veteran dual Falchions
Specialist- Zealot Dual falchions
Specialist Combat- Dual Falchions.....see a trend here
Specialist Comms- Psilencer or PSycannon have not decided yet
Specialist Heavy- Whatever the comms does not get
Specialist Demolitions- Incinerator
Fire team: 2 Justicars (1 halbred, 1 Daemon Hammer), 6 Grey Knights (1 Warding staff and the rest will have halberds I believe)
My kill team is just under 300 pts....for this roster. With Rogue trader and the commander rule I can add my Planned Conversion of FW's Knight Errant Tylos Rubio as my future commander....but wait
15 grey knight strike models, 3 justicars, 3 heavies........that means Exorcists tactical Demi Squads 1-3 will be done and since Tylos Rubio is in Power armor it can be my Brother champion......BAM Patrol and Kill Team done
now to get working on them
But lets talk about Tylos Rubio real quick and my palns for him:

Parts Break down
keeping the head and his Psychic Hood and torso torso to be chopped below belt and at thighs to extend height
All this will go to the bits box...
I'll add a MK IV helmet to his belt and some other doodads and I am using this model's load out for him

Exorcists plan keeps on rolling.........
So I have been reviewing some the tactics and build guides online for the Grey Knights.....I don't expect to win but I rather have a cool looking army at the end of the day that I built and painted.
So the build will initially be for 40k Kill Team made up of 5 Strike squad members. Looking back at Grey Knights, they have changed quite a bit since their first full codex. This does bug me. As 40k evolves things change, armies change tiers etc it is part of the evolution. With Grey Knights this hurts the army as you have 3 Dedicated Boxes, and by "Dedicated" I mean only available to the Grey Knights, for the Army:
- Nemesis Dreadknight- Builds NDK or with some conversion work Grand Master variant.
- Terminators- Builds Grey Knight Terminators, Paladins, Banner Bearers (both versions) and Apothecary.
- Strike Squad- Purgation, Strike, Intercessor, and Purifier Squad.
The weapon load outs keep changing in ability and point value. A Marine with a bolter is a marine with a bolter. A Grey Knight with a halbred used to be scary now not so much. Plus with the various weapon load outs available it is hard to chose the right load out on the model. Some games I may want the attacks on my guys some games I may just want to cleave armor for the squads.
Strike squads box sets consist of 10 dudes now (used to be 5) and you get 4 sprues of parts. Here is the list of weapons you get:
- 6 pairs of Falchions
- 2 Daemon Hammers
- 2 Ward Staves
- 8 Swords
- 6 Halbreds
- 4 Psycannons
- 2 Incinerators
- 2 Psilencers
- 16 Stormbolter arms
My plan is to run a Strike squad as the following:
- Strike Sgt- Storm Bolter, Daemon Hammer
- Strike team member- Storm bolter Falchions
- 2 Strike team Members- Storm Bolter Swords
- Strike team member- Psilencer
But the amount of games under my belt this might not be the most beneficial load out I could take. and well the Daemon hammer does have the -1 to hit on a 2 attack model.
Enter Magnets.....yes as nutty as this sounds I will be magnetizing my models just to deal with the "oh here are your new rules, that out date your load outs.
In the link there is a guide to Game Face Nation's 2 part Youtube video on how to magnetize Grey Knights and well any model.
With the True scaling of the marines, Cinematic effects, rub and buff paint scheme, why not magnetize them too.
Outside of Kill Team I am planning to expand it to smallish army of Grey Knights starting at 500pts lead by a Brother Champion, Strike Squad (same as above), Interceptor Squad (Daemon Hammer, 2 Falchions, 2 Swords), and a Purgation Squad (Daemon Hammer 4 Psilencers).
From Games Workshop
Grey Knight Strike squad (arms, weapons, and accessories)
Mk IV Space Marines (Head, Torso, Legs, Shoulder pads, and maybe backpacks)
Since my Marines will be MK IV Space Marines form Betrayal at Calth, My Brother Champion will be based off of this model
All Models will be based on a the Sector Mechanicus Bases with a magnet underneath.
PSilencers will modified using the PSilencers and heavy Bolters like pictured below
Zinge Industries Small Linked Ammo Belt (Pedro Kantor Syle) for my storm bolters
