Manic Monday # 83

 

So still no painting done, house is still under construction, still working too many hours.....Same old song and dance.

Now for the Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Bad: 

Mighty Brush is blowing out their decals for ummm reasons. I really loved Luther's Decals for my Raptors so I bought a few more sheets to get me through what I have....I hope.

The Ugly: 

My preorders from Frontline Gaming arrived:  I preordered 2 set of cards, Pot of Corvus Black Air, Horus Hersey Heavy weapon set 1 (Heavy Bolter and Missile Launcher), and Horus Heresy Heavy Weapon Set 3 (Volkite Culverin, Autocannon, Lascannon). I received Horus Heresy Weapon Set 3 and 2 (Heavy Flamer, Multi Melta, and Plasma Cannon). Decided to keep set 2 and pick up set 1 next time I'm in a store. 

The Good:

Thursday I was finally able to pick up my Forge World stuff from the FB member  from USPS Office. So excited! All of it was New in Package. 

Plus my Warhmmer+ Year 2 subscription model and Pop Goes the Monkey Combi Meltas showed up too. 

Hobby Time:

Friday I built the Spartan Land Raider......OMG was it a pain. But I was done with all but 10 Mk VI Marines from Age of Darkness box and then..... 

another 40 Mk VI marines showed up. So now up to 50 Mk VI Marines to build....

Saturday I decide to start finish basing my built models, I still need to do the pumice on the Deliverers bases, But Praetor, Primus Medicae, Warmonger, 30 Tactical Marines, Contemptor, and Storm Eagle's bases are done. 

I have more stuff I ordered and should be arriving in the next few days:

• 2 Sets of Raven Guard Decals from eBay seller

• Raven Guard Contemptor (#2), 2 sets of Raven Guard Heads, and another set of MK VI Shoulder pads from FW.

• 5 sets of plastic Mk VI shoulder pads and back packs from eBay Seller

• Jensus Natorian Blood Raven Deathwatch Librarian (to be converted into a RG Librarian) from eBay Seller.

• 10 Sets of these Shoulder pads for my Mor Dethyan's 

• And these from Tortuga Bay Studios

Wild Wednesday Post

So a few weeks back I ordered 2 cans of Leadbelcher spray from GW and box of Citadel Skulls since I had to have a non paint item in the box....weird but it is what it is. 

Soon my Grey Knights will be Silver instead of Grey

Skulls for the bases of Models....I'm not a Khorne worshipper

Good News is I should have it tomorrow. Which will make 4 cans I should be able to spray my Grey Knights.

I needed 3 more bikes as 3 is too small of a squad

and cause I am weak....

• Lelith will be my fill in until the new one is released. I'm hoping to magnetize her arm to switch between her penetrating blade and Impaler. 
• Succubus #2 will get a blast pistol instead of agonizer.

So thinking about the painting process for my Drukhari, I wanted them closer to the Raptors, with the smooth transitions in paint color Airbrush will be used, especially with the Turbo Dork Emerald Midnight paint as the main color....which I bought another 2 pots of.... and this

for Poisoned Weapons and maybe Grey Knight Nemesis weapons

So off I went to some of my favorite online paint retailers: Michigan Toy Solider Co. and Burbank House of Hobbies

Michigan Toy Solider has the Andrea Paint sets I like to use, so I purchased the next batch of sets I wanted

I already use the white and black and also have their Flesh and ink set. 

Burbank House of Hobbies is the cheaper location to order Vallejo paint. And with airbrushing I love spraying the Vallejo over Games Workshop or Tamiya paint. (It's the dropper bottles). Also I needed to restock some supplies for airbrushing. 

No that I've grown accustomed to using Lahmian Medium, its time to switch to a better medium, plus $7.80 for 24ml vs $10.80 for 60ml, 

But that's not all.....

I was looking around on Reddit in the Drukhari section and really liked some of the designs people are doing on their Vehicles. So I went over to Fallout Hobbies and checked out their line of stencils. 

Between the decals  and stencils it could get expensive but they were offering an amazing bundle deal I jumped on. For $30 plus shipping I received 3 Stencils and decal sheet. Pretty much my decals were free. 

So the air brush plan is:

1. Airbrush using Vallejo Surface Primer Gloss black
2.  Zenithal highlight with Vallejo Surface Primer Grey 
3. Zenithal highlight with Vallejo Surface Primer White.
4.  Spray the models with Future  Floor Wax to ensure they are gloss coated. 
5. Spray Andrea Red base for tribal design areas on Vehicles.
6. Apply Tribal Stencils
7. Spray 2-3 coats of Turbo Dork Emerald Midnight.
8. Apply mesh stencil to vehicles.
9. Spray an additional 2-3 coats of Turbo Dork Emerald Midnight.
10. Spray Andrea Gold base on Vehicle Grates. 

Manic Monday #13- Modeling area is getting closer to being completed.

 

So the Ikea funiture and paitn racks have been built. Slowly the new work area is coming to together. I need to build my Glass cabinets still but I need to order other lights to light them up better. we shall see if I actually do order other lights. 

    

    And slowly items are arriving including a Unarmored Adepta Sororitas and Unarmored Adeptus Astarte, Battle Sister squad, Seraphim Squad, Dice, Andrea paint sets, a vallejo paint set and Daemonfuige 20th Anniversary edition.

Today I should be getting my Daemonifuge miniatures, Datacards and Andrea ink set. 

Still waiting on Codex, Canoness, Hospitaller, Imagifier, and Dialogus to arrive. 

This friday I will move paint and some more figures over. 

I did order something from Forgotten Chapter......

3 sheets of partchement, purity seal and scripture decals. I received shipping confirmation today but unfortunately they are coming from the Netherlands. 

Manic Monday #4

So my work schedule has me doing 40 hrs really quickly with 3 12 hr shifts Monday to Wednesday and a 4 hr filler shift early Thursday morning (1:45 am to 5:45am). So I normally go home nap Thursday morning then go out and buy groceries for the week and go visit my parents.  Well this past week I did not have to come in Thursday morning and got to my parents earlier. While there I  airbrushed my first wash for the Predator, Scout Bikes, and Land Speeders and I started looking at my unbuilt pile of shame I had stored there. I jokingly told a friend I probably have enought to make a 3 army of stuff after assigning the models to Raptors and Black Templars. I am pretty sure I could build an Imperial Fists army pretty easy with the amount of models unbuilt I have....Like why do I have 20 Hell Blasters or 12 Inceptors. But that has to wait unitl I finish the current project: Grey Knights and Raptors.


With 9e approaching quickly I have shifted from working on my Grey Knights to more of my Raptors. I really dont want to have to build that many terminators. I probably have almost 30 terminators for my Grey Knight unbuilt. Plus I thought painting individual heradly was bad....nope just tedious. I knew what the worst part of the hobby was but man did it suck. More on this later. Plus until we see the adjusted Power Levels and Points the Grey Knights are severly lacking compared to every other army. My 25 Power Level relates to 365 pts, Brotherhood Champion, 2 5 man strike squads and an apothecary terminator. But if you  compare it to my Raptors at 25 Power Level/ 506 points and 527 points respectively with the main core being phobos captain, infiltrator squad, and scout squad and either scout bike squad and Predator for the 527 pt list or having 3 suppressors , 3 eliminators, and Imperial Space Marine for 506 pts. Yeah Power Level  and Grey Knights are way off.

So with me having the extra time off, and my normal duties done I started back up working on my "Back to Badab" Kill Team. when I last left them I was not far off from completion. Just a few more highlights, bases and they were done. Missing Slings for the Sniper Rifle and Comms Sgt's bolter.

So then I started the project I've been dreading........DECALS.

After a few hours I was able to complete the Decaling task.....for now.

Light Industries Decals were used for some of the Raptor logos and Tactical markings. Chapter Customizer (Follow the Chapter Customizer link at the bottom of Fallout Hobbies'  page) for Smaller Raptor Logos and Comamnd Staff Decals. Ginfritter Gnomish Workshop for Company and Squad number markings. And Finally some GW decals were used for command and squad desgination markings. Micro sol and Micro set were a life saver. Decaling SUCKS.

After completing this task, I finished the hobby weekend by building the last 2 Suppressors completing the Vangaurd Section of Shadowspear and then built 5 incursors from a box I am Splitting with a friend.

And I ordered more decals but this time from the Mighty Brush. And since Objective counters are on 40mm  bases and I have no clue where my land Speeder bases are, I ordered more bases and stands for them.
