Manic Monday #73

So my last post was April 11th... 2 months, 1 week 2 days ago....and during that time I have painted a blistering 6 models and those were this week!

But otherwise my past few weeks have been like this.....

Like a true Capricorn, I powered through it and back to where I need to be. And Bolter & Chainsword is down for a much need upgrade and I am looking forward to the new digs and being able to post there again.

Onto the modeling front:

So Metal Head Armory is doing a Necromunda Campaign....I'm torn between Redemptionist or Delaque and well neither gang is painted or built to my standards for this type of fight.....yet.

On the 40k Front....

I started back to working on my April Vow of Battle Sister Squad and Cherub.....

This is where they ended up after the weekend

Before deciding to continue on the next 5 members of the squad I figured I work on the Repentia Superior.

Finally got around to painting her flames and whips....

Since I was painting flames I started on another model that has molded flames.....Pious Vorne

She got a lot of attention and still alot to do on her.

I did get my Warhammer+ Year Membership model 3 months early since I was already subscribed to the apps.  I don't think I am going to build and paint him as hes not really game friendly (not a removable model from the terrain)

Its a short week for me so hopefully more painting done this week/ weekend

Sons of Titan Crusade

So with the Upcoming Metal Head Armory Crusade I really have been toying with various army loadouts and damn do I hate Power Level for Grey Knights. I am trying to find the right balance of  hardened troops, decent characters and the ability to deal with whatever is thrown at me.  There should be Admech, Ork, Aeldari, Tyranids, and either vanguard or daemons....maybe a guard army.  Imperial armies I should not be matched up to fight against but you never know. Part of me wants that hard hitting force of terminators and  Dread Knights  lead by a character in true Grey Knight fashion. I think the Librarian is the best option for the points as an HQ and his abilities. Paired with his temporal bombs, aggressive powers, he could be a force to be reckoned with.  The chaplain would be my current go to just cause of his litanies. Troops Terminator squad, fast interceptor squad and Heavies Dread knight and Purgation Squad. That leaves me 4 pts for an Inquisitor.

Ideally this would break down to Libby, Terminators, purgation squad and Chaplain, Inquisitor, Interceptors and dread knight....I see an uphill battle for me for a while.

Factor in my Agendas, missions, secondary's, ugh this is a nightmare.

For Titan! We are the Hammer

Crusade

With the Metal Head armory Crusade looming, a few of of us are thinking, retooling, refining our 50 Power Level forces.  With the exception of Flyers, Dreadknights, and few units here and there I have plenty of models completed, so my force is ready to expand as needed. The big debate is who is my Nemesis Hunter and What units do I take.  I can co go big and hard hitting taking terminators or go fast and maneuverable units. being Power Level it is taxign on Grey Knight Players as I can take a Librarian (6PL) 5 man Terminators squad (12PL) and 5 man Interceptor squad (7PL) and thats my list...at 25 PL no heavy weapons. I know I am gonn need some weapons to deal with the other armies and Considering if I am the Grey Knights I have the most expensive base models going to battle. So I am leaning more toward strikes and cheaper units.

Non Crusade

One model I have been looking at, now that he is done, is the Brotherhood Chaplain. I think mine is going to be assigned to the Purgation Squad with Intonement for Guidance in my 1500 pt list.

So now with that and Sanctuary my Purgation squads can move and shoot at BS 3+ with a 4++ save if the Litany, Sanctuary, and ignore cover if Astral aim is added to the mix. Thats a lot of Dakka.

Hobby Updates

So I slowly have been mustering my parts and forces for this weekend's build. And I have been thinking about my armies and collecting a lot recently. Maybe because I want to play a game or 2, or seeing the actual progress of my Grey Knights has lit a fire to accomplish more than I have. It maybe because I looked at my Raptors and seeing them at Step 7 of 13 which is edge highlighting and highlighting. Plus finishing basing.

While looking for parts I found 5 plus reivers, but they are lacking melee weapons, I got them from a friend for free so that was a bonus and I should have weapons at my parents.  I then found 10 Infiltrators/ Incursors. I remember buying a box and splitting it with Entropmancer. I built mine as Incursors. Recently I received an unbuilt 5 man squad in trade from him plus I had 5 somehow. I think we each bought a box and split them....at different times. Entropmancer plays Iron Hands, so he removed Phobos stuff and switching to Gravis. This is just a just a thought.....written down or more accurately typed out. I think I may add my Primaris forces to the Raptors. and by that I mean the non Phobos stuff. Once I get the both Impulsors, 2 Storm Speeders, a box of Eliminators, an Invictor War Suit and A Gladiator tank not much more Primaris stuff I need or want.

I have decided to switch Impulsor and drop a reiver in exchange for a Invictor Warsuit, I need to pickup up at FLGS, along with Space Marine Data cards. I am going to try to pick up more basing material at another hobby shop, grab some stuff from my Parent's house, (Reivers, Reiver LT,  Raven Guard Codex, cards, Guitar string and some other stuff) and then its off to build bases.

I would like to airbrush Friday Afternoon/ Evening if possible, but that requires bases for Suppressors to be done and Invictor to be built into sub assemblies. I have Gym and vehicle Service so I need to get a lot done on bases today to reach airbrush goal.

I need to finish my Grey Knight Terminator Squad and Chaplain so I can focus the last 4 characters. Grey Knight Terminators and Chaplain need washes on red parts, black over black and metallic parts, dry brush Grey knights Steel and then basing.

I eventually need to get back to work on my Order of the Valorous Heart Adepta Sororitas army. I have units in the built, primed, base coat and In progress stages but have not bee touched in a while.

Victorus Aut Mortis

So after much hatred, anger and rage at the 9th Edition Space Marine Codex, The Warzone Nachmund- Vigilus Alone gave me hope....and yet took it away. I was watching a review of the book and they brought up the Vanguard Detachment and then this past Saturday I watched it in action. Honestly not really impressed. As Raptors (Raven Guard) player, it was like they gave you bonuses but tied your hands. Reivers getting Objective Secure is really nice but I rather have access to Scouts, Gladiators, and Storm Speeders. I love my Raptors,  I just have been slow to adapt to the Space Marines in 9th Edition. In my defense they did bone my army pretty hard. Making Scouts Elites killed my army.

So what's the plan then. Well I'm gonna go full Phobos for the first 1000 Points.

Phobos Captain, Phobos Librarian, 6 man Squad of Grav Chute Reviers, 5 Incursors, 5 Infiltrators w helix, 5 Infiltrators w comms array, 3 Suppressors, 3 eliminators and an Impulsor. Phobos Librarian needs his base repainted  all but the impulsor are in the collection and built and most primed and awaiting completion. Incursors and Suppressors need to be Primed and Suppressors need bases.

Entropmancer needs bases for his Pteraxii Sterylizors so I might as well build 3x 40mm for my Suppressors, 5 40mm for his Sterylizors and 7 32mm for my 2nd Seraphim squad (I have been really putting off on finishing their bases).  Plus I need to see how many magnets I have compared to how many I need. I know I'm good on the Large Magnets need more medium.

Eventually I will get around to working on these models too....

I did purchase a finally get purchase a new Painting PDF from Luther at The Mighty Brush.

So I will be picking up more paints and tools for my Vehicles.

Be unseen, unheard, and unrelentless!

Nemesis............................

So with my group beginning to dive into Crusade, and I am probably gonna play my Grey Knights. In Crusade My Warlord can possibly have a Nemesis if I am playing a Chaos Marine or Chaos Daemon Player ie FREE MODEL for Chaos players. Its one of those models that I should build and paint for my collection for Crusade games. Options are as follows:

  • Master Of Possession
  • Herald of Tzeentch
  • Herald Of Nurgle
  • Herald of Slannesh
  • Herald of Khorne
  • Daemon Prince
  • Great Unclean One
  • Bloodthirster
  • Keeper of Secrets
  • Lord Of Change

Of the 10 options I feel the Master of Possession and all 4 Heralds are a joke. The 4 Greater Daemons......yeah not giving opponent a free Greater Daemon..

So Daemon Prince it is. And when it comes to the Dark Gods....I am all about that Slaanesh but not wanting to fight against. Never been a big fan of Tzeentch or Nurgle....So Khorne it is. The Idea of my Grey Knight Warlord fighting a Winged Khorne Daemon Prince is going to be awesome.

Years ago I bought the plastic Daemon Prince from GW.

And well he has been sitting around unbuilt for years. I am still not a fan of this model. While looking up conversion ideas, I stumbled upon this image for a Daemon Prince On Blood of Kittens back in 2018 deemed the Skullreaver Khorne Daemon Prince.

"This conversion is based on the Ogroid Thurmaturge model from the Disciples of Tzeentch AOS army. The wings come from the Varghiest/ Crypt Horror kit, which is so fantastic for conversions. The axe and belt buckle are from the Bloothirster, his ponytail and Khorne tabbard (not visible) are from the Bloodsecrator AOS kit and the shoulder pads are from the Helbrute.

The basing is the Ophidian Gate terrain and some Miliput."

Size comparison

not much size difference but once properly based and given wings he will be bigger.

So pricing him out:

Generic GW Daemon Prince - $45

vs

Ogroid Thurmaturge- $42
Crypt Horrors-  $50
Bloodthirster- $140
Bloodsecrator (on ebay) $23

So Crypt Horrors I guess I can use as Spawn....or Lesser daemons. The parts out of the Bloodthirster kit are variant pieces so I'll have a Bloodthirster....so Ok its doable.  I will have to source out the shoulder pads from Pop goes the Monkey....but I'm gonna try to give him skulls from the Citadel Skull box as shoulder pads first.

Basing would be my standard urban rubble terrain, with destroyed building and destroyed MkV Dreadnought.....good thing I have spare plastic dreadnought pieces.

Grey Knight Rumored Leaks

So from various sources online and forums the "Supposed"  Grey Knight 9th edition Strike Squad (and all other Power Armoured Grey Knight Kits) Instructions have appeared online. While the kit is unchanged it's what is included in the new Instrcution Sheets that matters. The Model and Weapons stats.

None of this information has been confirmed please take with a grain of salt.

Here we can see the stats of the different squads including the second wound and their attacks increase to 3 (4 for the Justicar). Now we knew the 2nd wound was coming but the attack increase is a nice. there is questions to what we will lose in the new codex.

Here are the stats. Incinerator now 13 inches, Psilencer AP -1, and the Nemisis Weapons stats being Damage 2 Except Hammer being 3 and Falchions being 1 but they will probaly get paired bonus. Plus Strength bonus and AP.

THis actually motivates me to work on my Grey Knights along with my Adeptus Titanicus models.....Once I get my Modeling station back in order. Story for another day.

Maniac Monday # 20- "I'm painting your shield red"

Thursday 02/18, I got my second Covid Vaccination shot.  My arm became sore 5 minutes after gettign the shot and finally stopped hurting Saturday evening. Otherwise no other effects. No sickness or nothign else. With my plan being working on models in case I did get sick, I was able to work on some models for 3 of the 4 days I was off. This post will focus on what I got accomplished on Thursday.

Since I was self qaratining myself I would not have access to the airbrush so it was time to Work on Grey Knights. My Purgation squad has been sitting around for a while waiting for me to restart them. So they were the first picked and since I have 6 GW painting handles I grabbed the Female Inquisitor model to work on too. The goal was to get them partially done and then finish up on Friday and start the next project. That didnt happen. This is what was completed on Thursday

Manic Monday on Wednesday # 19 part 3 Drukhari Primed!

So Sunday morning, I went to my Parents to change out the kitchen sink Faucet and use the airbrush.

So armed with Vallejo Surface Primer Gloss Black, Grey and White, I attempted to do my first Zenthial Highlight. Some models it came out great some not so much. I am learning tho.

In a few days I'll hopefully get to spray them with gloss coat and let that dry. Then I would probably do the red areas on the vehilce and them add the Tribal masks before starting with the turbo dork Emerald Midnight.
