Manic Monday # 78

 

Not a rough day.....but a rough few weeks. 

Back on August 1st, I vowed the following models:

Librarian #3 and 5 Paladins (from the 10 man squad). Well everything went sideways and I was not able to paint until this weekend.  

Got the tabards and heads done, started one the weapon hafts on the Paladins but did not take a picture.

Well another weekend as come and gone. I did get some hobby progress in this weekend but unfortunately it was only on Friday, we will get to that in a little bit. 

Saturday was Combat Patrol and Crowe PreOrder day. I did not pre order as I have all the models already. But for the aspiring Grey Knight Players great way to start your collection.

Which means painting Paladins, Terminator Squad, and 2 Heavy Weapons for the other 2 squads. But they were planned to be painted already and some are in work already.

Or

I may paint some Order of the Valorous Heart Adepta Sororitas as they have been on the back burner for a bit. And I really need to get painting on them. Maybe my Celestians, or Celestian Sacresants, or Alana's Retibutor Squad....we shall see.

Primed the Terminators I built last week and the Grand Master on Foot. And then started painting Grand Master. Down to some highlights and shading and then he is done. 

Manic Monday # 68

 

Well thats another weekend of 2022 gone......and I spent more time at working then I wanted. I am still not 100% from being sick a few weeks back and working OT at work probably not helping. But with prices going up I have to do what I can do. 

So after much discussion with Entropmancer about our friends armies on Thursday, I have decided to change up my Grey Knights list to deal with Tau and Tyranids players, and go Terminator Heavy. And I do mean Terminator heavy. My 1000 pt patrol list is rocking 15 terminators, 5 Paladins and a Librarian in Termiantor Armor as the warlord. for an extra 500 pts it becomes a Battalion with me adding a second Paladin squad, Apothecary and Grand Master takes over as warlord. 

One of the issues I was having was my 2 built terminator squads had no heavy weapons, my Paladins have max number in both squads (10 man Paragon with Hammer rest Halbreds/ Warding staves 4x Psycannons & 5 man Swords and 2 Incinerators). This meant I was going to have to remove the arms off the painted models to add Heavy weapons to the squads. Going through my Grey Knight Terminator bits, Found one Heavy weapon arm. And they are $6 each on ebay. I decided to slap them on regualr stormbolter arms instead. I found 5 heads I forgot about and then saw 3 Grey Knight termiantor legs....so I can have 3 squads of 6 models and one of 5...... So I built the Heavy weapons to add to squad De Gaudin and Quirin and Squad 4 of terminators got an extra swordsman

So after they were built, Friday I decided to build the 3rd Squad of Termiantors using the heads I found. 

So now I  have 3 built Termiantor squads, and this one will be my main Team just cause I love the hoods on them. 

Saturday after running errands I realized I needed to paint my Stormhawk. So I blocked out the reds, on the cockpit and stabilizer for Heraldry, and Weapon casings. 

After setting that aside to dry I started working on the Justicar for the 4th Terminator Squad

After work Sunday I built the last remaining (Non Named Character) Infantry Models for my Grey Knights. 

And here they are all 23 Troop Choice Termaintors

Only models left to build are the 5 Land Raiders and 1 Storm Raven.....then my Grey Knights will have everything built.

Well its the end of February....which means my Feb 2022 12 months of Hobby Challenge is due...I completed 6 of the 10 models a few weeks back so I will getting Feb Completed and Feb Seriously badges. I figured I would go for the stubbon since I would be able to knock out 2 models this past weekend and save the other 2 for stubborn next month. I was wrong....

So with March around the corner it is time for my Next Vow. I'm gonna take a break from painting Terminators this month and go for my Grey Knights Stormhawk Interceptor.

Topic Tuesday- Weekend update part 2 - Breaking the Rules of painting

 

    So yesterday I posted about my Thursday Progress. This post is about my painting progress for Friday and Saturday. Lets say I bite off more than I could chew but I did make progress. 

    After completing the Purgation squad, Female Inquisitor, and Stormtalon cockpit, I got a little adventurous and decided to paint my Servitors (8 models) and Terminators (10 models).....mistakes were made from the start, and this 1st of many made over the next 2 days. Mistake 1- Don't paint more than a 2 squads at a time.  So I break this rule with my Raptors cause I'm usually doing mass painting and have extra paint so I keep going until I'm done with each color. Yeah Raptors maybe the exception no way I can do this with Grey Knights consistenly. If I only painted the 8 Servitors I would have probably finished them Friday.

   So with the primary color being tan jump suits for the Servitors, I started with that. Knowing that weapon casings would be red, boots black, fleshtone with  a red wash near metallic parts and rst coverd in black, would not be an issue. So I knocked all 8 servitors out with Andrea White paint set, base color mixed with Vallejo Medium. I then decided to paint the parchment, books, skulls, and tabard on the terminators. While trying to get the paint out of the dropper, it blew the cap off. covering my pallet and self cutting mat in paint. Mistake 2- Don't squeeze eye dropper bottles to hard. And I just watched a video from Eons of Battle about this. I cleaned it up and was swearing under my breath. I took a break to allow for the paint to dry and went grocery shopping. 

    Upon returning I set upon painting my next color Black. I painted all the boots on servitors that would be black and then went to start the terminators. Mistake 3- paint dark colors before light colors. Yeah it was just my stormbolters on thet terminators no big deal. After the black dried, I started to paint the Mephiston Red sections. Once again Servitors no problem. Terminators.....Problem. Wax Seals, Icons, Inquistion logos yup Mistake # 3 for sure. 

    I around lunch time I noticed my medium base brush was shot. I was in need of Brass paint, Turbo Dork Pearly Gates to lighten the Emerald Nightmare when I get to airbrush again. So I called my FLGS Imperial Outpost to makesure they carried Turbo Dork and they did. So off I went. Picked up my brass paint, 2 things of turbo dork Pearly Gates, medium base brush, White Dwarf 461 and Vallejo Black and white paint set. 

    Upon returning home, I called it day for modeling and started cooking dinner. 

    Saturday saw a little more painting done, Flesh color was added, I built another 2 models and painted the inside of my StormTalon Cockpit and added liquid mask to the exterior. I mainly sat around and watched tv and cooked Corned Beef and Cabbage for dinner.

Maniac Monday # 19 on a Tuesday ...part 2 Primer time

 

With all the work I accomplished Wednesday and Thursday, I figured I'd try to build a Stormtalon in @ 1 hr, before I left for my errands Friday Morning.......Forgot that I had to paint the Stormtalon Cockpit first..... but Cockpit is built, pilot is built so its ready for the priming pile. Some models were previously primed but after basing them I went for the reprime them attitude.

After that the GF and I sat down to watch Law & Order SVU on Hulu and I removed all the extra parts off the Terminator Sprues and put them in the parts bins. I still have enough parts to make a few more Terminators plus 2 more boxes of 5 which will be 3rd terminator squad and 3rd paladin Squad. Debating building a "Paladin" Brother Captain.

Maniac Monday # 19- Huge update..... part 1 Wednesday and Thursday's projects

 So I was super busy in the modeling world this weekend. So much that I have decided to break it down into 3 posts.

So I spent Wednesday and Thursday, adding shields to all the Terminators and Paladins, drilling out  stormbolter barrels, adding grenades, pouches,Tabards, chains and Crux terminatus to the 2nd Paladin Squad, green stuffing purity seals and adding skulls, skeletons, bricks, I beams, pipe, greenstuff rubble, to bases with the plan of priming them of Friday.
