Mid Week update

Set you on fire
 Here's your Mid Week update.

So no painting or modeling has been done thanks to my work schedule but that was expected.

Forgeworld has opened! Much rejoicing! Except for the wallet.

Currently my Grey Knights have 2 unbuilt Land Raider/ Phobos/ Crusader/ Redeemer that are waiting to get built. I have been planning on a 3rd and possibly 4th Land Raiders for the army. The 4th would be a Land Raider Prometheus with its quad heavy bolter sponsons for my Inquistor. But that has to wait until 9e drops. But the 3rd Land Raider I purchased today.

FW Land Raider Mk IIb

The FW Land Raider Mk IIb uses Rhino size doors and will be assigned to my Purifiers all 10 them with quad incinerators. I It all uses the Standard Land raider rules.

No pity, No Remorse

Since I was at Forgeworld anyways I picked up the first New purchase for my 9e Black Templars.  Forgewold Black Templar Storm Shields for the Indomitus Crusade Marshall, Castellan, and Sword Brethren.

And why stop there..

Next I went over to Emperor's Fist Bits - Etsy Store and ordered some bits.

When you need it destroyed at -1 to hit

jingle bits

Champion Sword

Backpack bits

power Swords

Tilt Shields

Then finally I hit up Ginfritter gnomish Workshop for Decals

I ordered 1 of each except for the black crosses I ordered 3 of those.

And tomorrow I'll grab some models to work on.....thinking Built Apothecary and unbuilt Sgt Jovan.......

Manic Monday #1

So with my current work schedule I'm off Thursday to Sunday. perks of working 12 hour shifts. So goals are post on Mondays with modeling update, Tuesday-Thursday random updates (painting Competition, challenges, and WIP updates) , and Friday Verbal post, campaign ideas and random thoughts.

Modeling Updates

So this weekend   I completed Brother Techmarine Talus attached to the 7th Brotherhood of Grey Knights and started working on Strike Squad # 3. Once they are completed, I'll 7 Power Level short of my Crusade  for 9e which will be the Purgation Squad with 4 Psilencers.

Strike Squad #3 WIP

And the Current Finished Group Shoot

7th Brotherhood of Grey Knights

Over on the Bolter and Chainsword, in Ravenguard group we are working on a Apothecary build and paint and I have been slacking. The Group build and paint ends on the 06/28 which means i have 13 days to paint my 2 apothecaries.
Waiting on assignment for the 10th Co

Black Templars- with 9e around the corner, I will be building all my Primaris models not in Phobos armor into the Black Templars. Some modeling chain, some green stuff tabards and the army will look good. I plan on using Decals from Ginfritter Gnomish Workshop for them instead of the shapeway icons just a cost reduction and uniformity. The Primaris army I have is quite large so this project will take a while plus waiting on new models.

Black Templars vs Grey Knights

So my local Warhammer Store announced the Colours of War: Season 3 challenge and I’m not sure which army to go forward with?

First off- What is the Colours of War: Season 3

Painting Campaign Season Three!

The focus of this event will be painting Citadel models to a minimum Battle Ready standard. Hobbyists may however exceed the minimum requirement and strive to submit Parade Ready units. The campaign will last for a total of eight weeks and will be segmented into three separate rounds, each with a different goal.

***Further details***

:Levels Of Painting::

Battle Ready Defined:
If a model is Battle Ready, it means it’s ready to game with. Battle Ready models have their main areas coloured and a simple finish on their bases. Battle Ready isn’t a bar you have to pass to be allowed into our hobby. Rather, it’s an achievable and universally recognized standard that’s meant to say YES to your army, YES to accessibility and YES to more games with more painted models. Battle Ready is about making painting a celebration rather than a chore!

Parade Ready Defined:
Models that not only have their main areas coloured but also have additional details picked out. Perhaps you'll pick out the Pustular on your Putrid Blightkings, or the runes on your Saurus Astrolith Bearer. You could always add a few extra highlights or complete a custom base. Whatever you decide to do, its putting a little more work in to give your Citadel model that "je ne sais quoi!"

::Key Dates::

Round One: (July 1st - July 21st)
Hobbyists will need to select one Hero and ten Battleline models. These Citadel models will need to reach a Battle Ready standard by the end of the three week round.

Round Two: (July 22nd - August 4th)
Hobbyists will need to select one unit from the “Other” category. This unit of Citadel Model(s) will also need to reach a Battle Ready standard by the end of the two week round. However this year, in Round Two you may only use a Primer, Five Paints, and a Texture (if desired) to complete their unit!

Round Three: (August 5th - August 25th)
Finally, Hobbyists will choose something Big and Beautiful (Monster or Behemoth) from the Citadel range of models. This unit should be a Signature Eye Catching model and will need to reach a Battle Ready standard by the end of the final three week round.

Online Submissions:
At the end of each round hobbyist that participated in the campaign will be encouraged to post pictures of their submissions for judging. Each display of a Battle Ready force will need to be submitted by the final day in each round. Voting will take place virtually and awards will be given to the very best in each category.

So I was talking with my friend and asked should I do a Primaris Black Templars army for 9th using all my non Phobos stuff. He agrees I should but thinks I should add my reivers to the army but I like the idea of my raptors being Phobos or scout armor.

Black Templars would be all Primaris and gain the repulsors I have and maybe a Repulsor Executioner that I want.

So my initial Black Templar  army would be an hq (gravis captain) 2 intercessors troops, followed up with inceptors and the executioner or Redemptor Dreadnought (which I have).

For Grey Knights I’d do Brother Captain, 2 5 man Terminator squads, apothecary and nemesis dreadknight. Which I have all of these models too and the apothecary and captain are primed already.

Decisions....decisions

Also during the discussion with my Friend we were talking about the crusade rules. I total missed the “Crusade uses Power Level” rule.....so my Grey Knight Crusade was short 14 PL  as I was building it at 500 pts. I was able to bring it up from a patrol to a Battalion by adding a 3rd 5 man strike squad (falchions and incinerator) for 7 power level and a 5 man Purgation (halberd and 4 psilencers) for another 7 power level. 50 power level on the dot, but instead of 1 model away I’m 11 models away but they are all primed.  Then it would be on time the other units I want to build...

I should just stay with my GKs for the Colour of War.

Why the 7th Brotherhood?

Why the 7th Brotherhood of Grey Knights?  Well I toyed with the idea of the 3rd Brotherhood but personally felt tied into fielding Grand Master Voldus and Brother Captain Stern and it felt kinda enh. The 6th Brotherhood was about rapid strikes and no special characters. But the 7th Brotherhood has something even more fitting to my style of play....

7th Brotherhood - Covan Leorac, Representative to the Inquisition, commands the 7th Brotherhood with Darig Tegvar as its Brother-Captain. The Inquisition and the Grey Knights are inextricably intertwined, their goals often aligning. The 7th Brotherhood has a long history of operations alongside the Ordo Malleus, and many Brother-Captains have personal relationships with Inquisitors. As a result, respected Inquisitors are more likely to gain favour from the Brotherhood if they call for aid, as more than one Inquisitor has learned. Grand Master Leorac maintains the Chapter's secret knowledge of the Inquisition, tomes of lore on the Inquisitors of each Ordo reaching back thousands of standard years. It is rare for individual Battle-Brothers to serve with the same Inquisitor more than once, lest either should learn too much of the other.

The ability to add an Inquisitor to the army seems like an awesome idea and helps further the explanation of why my Grey Knights are on Campaign with no daemons present.

On to the models

Work in Progress

Brother Techmarine Talus

Standard bare head techmarine with Servo Harness, exchanged normal axe arm for Strike squad storm bolter arm but chopped magazine and barrels to be a bolter with build in optics.

I have returned......again part 2

So its been a crazy ride of late......sudden loss of my Best Friend and Paintball teammate in November, Loss of my GF dad, in January, loss of my GF 's best friend at work later in January, Covid 19, lockdown, Being an essential employee,  Riots, and Tiger King.....2020 is definitely a sucky year....

To help put stop to some of the personal craziness, my GF suggested I work on models as a stress reliever.

I took a look at the collection of models I had and decided to work on the army that would be the easiest to work on. My Grey Knights. Now I've been working on them on and off for a a while now but never was happy with them. The pile of primed and un primed plastic contained a custom Brotherhood champion, a techmarine, Mk IV Venerable Dreadnought, 3 strike squads, Purgation Squad, Ancient, 2 lascannon razorbacks and a Librarian. Grabbing my models, brushes, and paints off I went.

So I was just painting my small force for Kill Team initially but then I saw the changes in Psychic
Awakening: Ritual of the Damned and how they turned the Grey Knights into a fierce force plus the Inquisitor rules from White Dwarf. It was time to work on them more than just kill team.

I have since added to the army Brother Captain Conversion, 2 Dreadknight Chassis (one for my Grand Master) , a couple of Voldus models for the Grand Master on foot and in Dreadknight, dug up the other unbuilt pile of Grey Knight Terminators/ Paladins and Strike/ Inceptors/ Purgation/ Purifers I have along with a few vehicles and servitors. I decided on the 7th Brotherhood as they are the Inquisitorial Representatives

Along with participating in the Local Warhammer Store- #Finished Fridays and Bolter and Chainswords Lockdown challenge I was able to get a few models completed.......and 9th Edition was announced.....

The Crusade announcement actually made my gaming group excited for a new edition plus all the changes we are hearing coming out.  so I have my 500pt Crusade force almost painted:

HQ-

Brotherhood Champion Landry De Lauzon- acting warlord

Troops-

Picture Needed- Strike Squad Gaiwain De Monglane

Strike Squad Godfrey De Caux

Elites-

Venerable Dreadnought Draper

WIP- Techmarine Talus- No picture.

Hopefully this will be kept up to date better than in the past......

I live again.......

So I took almost a year break from the hobby. Mainly due to family reasons and responsibilities. It is hard trying to find the drive to come back but I think baby steps is the right direction.

So Adepta Sororitas are around the corner and I am excited for them but not sure how much I will buy as they will be a show army as they always are for me. And I have not played since the one game of kill team a while back.

I am trying to get motivated to finish building my Shadowspear Vanguard marines (2 models left) and start painting them as Raptors. The Raven Guard group on B&C is doing a character build and Paint group, I may join in on....deciding what model to do tho: Captain, LT, or Librarian

But I am still waiting to get my new marine codex, and some other models down the line: Invictor war suit, new grav vehicles, eliminators, and the multi part infiltrators.....So I do have time to get the Shadowspear box done. Hopefully
