Kill Team Friday Post

Tomorrow Pre-Orders Go Live for

With that I'm looking at my Team 7 Raptors Kill Team for the Back to Badab Campaign on Bolter and Chainsword.

Back to Badab Kill Team - Raptors Team 7

  • Sternguard Sgt "Topkick" Lynch- Specialism-Leader, Special issue Bolter, Chainsword
  • Sgt "Slaphammer" Fairchild- Specialism- Comms, bolter auspex
  • Brother "Bulleteer" Chang- bolter
  • Brother "Deathblow" Cray- Specialism- Heavy, heavy bolter
  • Brother ""Dead Eye" Cash- scout, sniper rifle

I have plans to build the next 5 Members of the team

  • Vanguard Sgt  "Backlash" Slayton- Specialism- Combat (some games)*-2 Lightning Claws
  • Veteran Brother "Arclight" Dane- plasma gun, chainsword
  • Veteran Brother Blaze- Special Issue bolter
  • Veteran Brother "Wraparound" Callahan- Bolter, Chainsword
  • Brother "Cyberjack" Rhodes and Brother "Bolo Round" MacNamara- Shotgun

depending on games/ opponent, I can rotate specialist depending on mood or situation. Realistically my 3 Specialist would be Cray, Cash and Slayton but I really like the Comms ability so Fairchild is going to have to take one of those spots.

There are some touch ups and little things I want to do still, such as giving them warpaint like they had in the comics.

Arclight Dane

Backlash Slayton

Bulleteer Chang

Dead Eye Cash

Deathblow Cray

Slaphammer Fairchild

Topkick Lynch

Wraparound Callahan

If I  build the 5 extra men, I'll be at 10 models.  So I thnk I would add Scout Gunner with Heavy Bolter as "Bad Moon' Diaz, Company Veteran "Wraparound" Callahan. That makes 12 members of Team 7. To hit the 20 I think I would add Inquistor Eisehorn as Director Miles Craven and I think I would do Internal Operations Black Razors as Scouts with bolters (5 man), Sgt Bolt pistol and Chainsword, and  Scout with a missile launcher

Manic Monday #3- Massive Raptors Update

The Raptors Chapter has been a long time Favorite of mine since I saw them while playing the Fire Warrior Game. One of the reasons I love them is the their paint scheme and use of Camo. Some of my favorite miniatures where the pewter scouts from years past. I still have a lot of them but I may use them for another army where they will look better.

So Years ago I built a Scout Army and painted them OD Green. After a while I sold them. I regretted selling them as there was alot of cool conversions and scenic forest bases. It was a fun army but I had an eye on something else.

Fast forward a few years ago, I was thinking of building an Arbites army and had a bunch of plastic scouts boxes sitting around. And Betrayl of Calth came out. So I threw my hat in the ring to try and build Emperors Children. Eventually that fade went away and I saw all my scouts. I decided to rebuild my Scout Army as offically Raptors and begin toiling away. At the start of 8th Edition I got to play for the first time since mid way through 6th edition. It was small 750 pt game of My Crimson Fists vs my friends Dark Angels. I ended up winning barely. The next time I would play would be my Raptors 10th Co in a mini Campaign for My Gaming Group. While going 1-1-1 was not the start I was going for it I did field a painted army that drew alot of attention from other people in the store and was deemed the most difficult army to deal with. I continued working on my Raptors and eventually burned out. I found The Mighty Brush and was amazed at Luther's Raptor army.

Looking over at my models I was embrassed and felt like I was using a Big Crayon to paint with. And honestly I quit on myself and painting. Occassionaly I would pick up the brush to paint something here or there but just did not have my heart in it. The past few months have been tough, lost  few friends to death last year, my GF's dad passed, and then Covid Hit......

My GF suggested that I work on some models as stress relief. I resumed working on my Grey Knights cause they had most of their stuff built. While painting I got back into the Bolter and Chainsword Ravenspire group as they are Best Group of individuals on there. I entered 3 painting Challenges on the B&C and currently sitting at 2 of the 3 completed

New Kill Team side projects

Well 40k Kill Team pre-orders went live yesterday and of course I pre-ordered stuff.

First off the most important things:

Gotta have rules to play the game and the cover is just gorgeous.

Cards I may need them and wanted them....

Killzone Sector Mechanicus- Desert landscape refinery....Perfect for Khymara.

This was a complete impulse buy......but hey I figure I can put my 2014 Bolter & Chainsword patch on it.

Proud member and supporter since 2007

Around the web if you search hard enough you can find links and some of the rules for Kill Team on line and hopefully you FLGS has a demo copy.

Originally When I  designed Raptors Kill "Team 7" it was on a whim of what models I wanted
Clock Wise from top left: Dane, Slayton, Chang, Fairchild, Cash, Sgt Lynch, Cray

I figured the out Team 7 would cost me 117 pts using 40k point values. It was then announced it teams were 100 pts max.... with the info out my team now costs 97 pts which means Team 7 will be ready for paint and basing soon....once im off this crazy schedule.

And if you wonder why they are called Team 7, They are based off the Wildstorm comic book of the same name.

Veteran Sgt Lynch aka "Topkick" Slayton "Backlash", Fairchild "Slaphammer", Chang " Bulleteer", Dane "Arclight", Cray "Deathblow", and Cash "Deadeye" before he becomes Grifter.

But you said side projects......

Well I always wanted a Grey Knight army but didn't want to paint them silver. I always wanted an Exorcist army but no chapter tactic kind of blows and I'm not a fan of pick one from the codex to use. It never fit their fluff.

So with Kill Team I'm starting my Exorcist "count as Grey Knights" army.

Planned build is Mk IV Space Marines, Grey Knight strike squad arms and weapons on sector Mechanicus bases.

Paint scheme will be using the Rub and Buff technique which I love on these Word Bearers. Since it will be a small unique army I will be using this tutorial to Truescale them. Decals will be supplied from the Chapter Customizer, Ginfritter Gnomish Workshop, and the Betrayal at Calth Word Bearers. I will be doing some other minor conversions, such as Psilencer will be converted out of a Heavy Bolter and Storm Bolters are going belt fed like Pedro Kantor gauntlet mounted Dorn's Arrow.  I ordered everything I need so far for the customization for the first 500 pts I have planned including armorcast's Cinematic effects bursts to have them firing.
